Masterclass on Mexico’s premium Tequila

On a high note with yummy Patron Tequila’s

What was the event?
India importers of Patron Tequila, Aspri Sprits, and Milton Alatorre, Regional Director, Marketing & Commercial Strategy, Asia Pacific – Patron Spirits International, brought together an enlightening evening on Patron Tequila at Kipos, Bandra, Mumbai.

What happened?
Alatorre took the mixed crowd of spirit specialists, mixologists, bartenders, chefs, restaurateurs, et al through an overwhelming introduction to Patron Tequila (Patron Silver, Patron Reposado, Patron XO Café and Patron XO Café Dark Cocoa). Post the video presentation and intense interactions with the experts, the guests were served Patron’s premium Tequilas and signature cocktails to kick off the good times.

What I liked?
First, I just loved the handcrafted recycled glass bottles of Patron Tequilas. There’s no way one can ignore the uniquely-shaped bottle and the cork, which is made of special wood, to enhance flavour of the tequila.
Second, not being a fan of shots, Tequila didn’t appeal to me as much as the other tipples. At the event I had a revelation that agave-based spirit can be enjoyed in more than one way, as cocktails. The served diverse tasting six concoctions Patron Julep, Pina Coronada, XO Prediction, Patron Mango Lemonade, Cocoa & Cream and Sweet Dreams. My personal favourites were Patron Julep and Cocoa & Cream. Julep was refreshing and the Patron Silver tequila gave the drink a zesty, citric but yet a smooth balance! And it was the tequila’s pepper finish that made me love it.
I simply love dark chocolate and there couldn’t have been a better milky cocktail like Cocoa & Cream. The coffee and chocolate layers enveloped my palate with a dry, not sweet as with most low-proof coffee liqueurs.
Third, though I don’t like shots, Patron Tequila XO Café & XO Café Dark Cocoa were as delicious as shots and a lot like may be my favourite Bailey’s coffee liqueur or Sheridan’s coffee layered liqueur. Even Reposado, which is aged in oak barrels for at least six months, was enjoyable as it leaves a sharp contrasting taste of sweet, earthy, smoky and slightly spicy in the mouth.

Why you should try Patron Tequilas?
Alatorre said, “It takes 60 hands to make a bottle of Patron Tequila” and it is made in small batches. Personally, this is the first tequila brand that I loved sipping, which is why I insist Tequila drinkers and non-drinkers should try Patron Tequilas at least once.
Apart from the unique production process, Patron Tequilas’ versatility – as a shot, as cocktails and as a cooking ingredient makes it truly appetizing.
